Fresh  Wheatgrass

Contains every mineral the human body requires and must be juiced. Unlike cows, if we were to chew and swallow wheatgrass we humans don’t have the required four stomachs to digest it properly.  1 oz of fresh wheatgrass juice is equivalent to 2.5 lbs of lefy greens, and 2 oz of fresh wheatgrass juice is equivalent to eating approx. 5lbs of leafy greens.

Improves Digestion

Introduce wheatgrass to your daily regimen and benefit from its Vitamin B, amino acids, and enzyme content. From Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) to Ulcers; wheatgrass is a great tool for improving ones digestive system. Wheatgrass even goes as far as cleaning your bowels of impacted matter and mucous.

Appetite Suppression

Wheatgrass is loaded with so many essential nutrients that your body is not hungry for other foods to compensate for a lack of vitamins and minerals. Taking a wheatgrass shot in the morning on an empty stomach can prevent overeating.

Stimulate Circulation

Wheatgrass has the ability to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood, making it an excellent source to stimulate circulation. In addition to drinking a wheatgrass shot, rub a small amount of juice on your face and neck to dilate blood vessels and allow more circulation to the surface of the skin. After applying, rinse off the wheatgrass and dry your face.

Reduce Fatigue

When experiencing fatigue, your body is deprived of rest and has a weakened immune system. Wheatgrass is full of Chlorophyll which is anti-bacterial and helps increase the supply of oxygen in your body's cells and tissues. This contributes to cell regeneration, healing the body, and reducing fatigue symptoms.

Prevent Tooth Decay

Gargle a shot of wheatgrass juice in your mouth for a few minutes and rinse. It will help draw out toxins and re-mineralization teeth. Some dentists recommend replacing mouthwash (which can be harsh to teeth and gums) with wheatgrass.

Revitalize Skin

Wheatgrass has the ability to regenerate skin cells and in turn is helpful for its complexion. Having a daily wheatgrass shot or applying the juice directly to the skin itself, helps reduce the appearance of acne, overcome dryness or eczema and treat discolouration

Stabilize Blood Sugar Levels

Wheatgrass improves glucose and lipid levels, which means it's a wonderful tool for managing diabetes and stabilizing blood sugar levels.

Cancer Prevention

Due to its potent detoxifying properties, wheatgrass works to keep the blood clean and oxygenated as well as the red blood cell count high. Cancer thrives in a low-oxygenated environment, so the wheatgrass contributes to cancer prevention.

Cleanse the Liver

Wheatgrass is one of, if not the best well known for its effects on the liver. The liver processes what the body ingests, and with its high levels in detoxifying properties, nutrients, and enzymes, wheatgrass is able to restore and revitalize the liver.

Treat Arthritis

Many health experts believe that consuming wheatgrass is effective in treating arthritis. Chlorophyll is thought to benefit arthritis and wheatgrass contains a lot of it. Chlorophyll fights inflammation, which is associated with joint pain.

Frequently asked question about Wheatgrass

Q: What is Wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass are the young shoots of the wheat plant called Triticum Aestivum, when prepared  into juice it has various health benefits for the human body and is used like a herbal medicine for its therapeutic and nutritional properties.

Q: How much wheatgrass should someone drink?

It has been recommended that 1-2 ounces (equals to 5 pounds of veggies) at a time is all someone should drink. It is best to drink it in the first few minutes after juicing and is recommended to drink it only on an empty stomach.

Q: I'm Gluten Intolerant, is wheatgrass safe for me to drink?

Research has shown that wheatgrass is gluten free, so yes it is safe. Wheatgrass is not actually a grain, it is a green vegetable. Green vegetables do not contain gluten. Although the grass was germinated from grain, it undergoes a  complete transformation into a vegetable.

Q: Why do some companies sell wheatgrass still in the soil and you sell it prepackaged?

We harvest all the sprouts and grass for a number of reasons. The most important being to ensure people receive the freshest product available, containing the highest level of nutrients. Research has shown that it is best to harvest wheatgrass at what is called the “jointing stage”. This is the optimal time to extract the most amounts of nutrients from the wheatgrass. All the energy and life force that is in the seed is concentrated into that little plant, and as it ages and grows the energy spreads throughout the plant into all the different stems and flowers, making the energy and life force of the seed less concentrated. It also makes for convenience, you don't have to remember to water the plants or know when the right time to harvest is. We have taken care of that for you. All you need to do is store the wheatgrass in the refrigerator, take out what you need, rinse and enjoy.

Q: How long will wheatgrass last in the refrigerator after it has been harvested?

Wheatgrass should last one week in a refrigerator, it is best to set it to 36-38 degrees Fahrenheit or 2-3  degrees Celsius. If your wheatgrass is not lasting at least one week, your refrigerator may not be cold enough.

Q: Does wheatgrass have the same nutritional value if you allow it to regrow?

The wheatgrass will grow back a second time but it is not recommended that you juice it, as it has been known to lose approximately 50% of its nutritional value.

Q: After juicing wheatgrass, how long will it last?

Research has shown that it is best to drink the juice within the first few minutes for maximum benefits. Wheatgrass juice can not be stored after it is juiced. Also, it is recommended that you do not freeze wheatgrass. It is believed that most of the benefits of the wheatgrass will be destroyed once frozen.

Q: Are the powdered or frozen grasses as good as fresh wheatgrass?

Fresh wheatgrass is the best and the most beneficial. But powdered wheatgrass is still better than when it is frozen. Powdered and frozen wheatgrass are just alternatives and there is no substitute for fresh wheatgrass juice. Powder is a good alternative when travelling. Always keep in mind, what FRESH wheatgrass does for the body in one weeks time, it will take the powdered alternative one year to do the same thing and the frozen alternative two years.

Q: Can I use a blender or centrifugal juicer to extract the juice from the wheatgrass?

You can, but we don't recommend it. Blenders and centrifugal force juicers will not extract the juice properly from wheatgrass. We recommend the single auger juicers (masticating juicer) for all grasses and leafy greens. The single auger style juicer twists and bends the grass membranes, which extracts the juice and all the nutrients where as a blender or centrifugal forcer juicers cuts and chops the grass which will not extract the juice from the grass.

Q: What does Nature's Roots do with the left over clippings?

Local, independent farmers use the clippings for feed and to treat the animals.
